Image requirements for The Quibbler Cat

As you know, The Quibbler Cat is a FREE online fanzine by and for fans of the Wizarding World.

With every edition, more and more people are wanting to contribute, which is AWESOME and Alex and I appreciate every single one of you that chips in!

That said, however, not everyone is aware of how a magazine is put together, which makes total sense and we don't expect you to be aware of any of this. So to avoid confusion and people having to resend images multiple times, here's a small submission guideline for submitting photos.

ALL photos, NO EXCEPTIONS, MUST be JPG files.

I know MP4 moving images are awesome, but sadly we are not a real life digital version of The Daily Prophet or any other Wizarding World newspaper so JPG is the only thing that works for our little digital magazine ;).

All photos must be 2000 pixels on the smallest side. At least. Think: the bigger the better (but 2000 on the smallest side at least is fine, really).

That way your photo will be large enough to use. Small photos end up looking garbled as heck because in the digital world of editing a magazine, they are effectively the size of a stamp and don't enlarge well.

You really do NOT need fancy editing software to check your photos' size, you can even do it in Paint! (open image in Paint, start, change format and there you can see what size your photo is when you click pixels).

The best way to submit images is via email attachment.

Secondary hosting sites (yes, I am aware we host the magazine on MEGA) can be finnicky at best, and please, for the love of all that is good in the world, avoid Google Drive, because it is nothing but trouble for those of us (like me) who have actual privacy settings on their computer.

If you must share via a cloud service, please use MEGA, dropbox, wetransfer or something equally fairly reliable.

So in short:

  • ONLY JPG format

  • 2000 pixels minimum on the smallest side of your photo

  • send as an email attachment or via a share/cloud service like MEGA, dropbox, wetransfer... but please NOT via Google Drive

  • Outfit shots are NOT the same as portrait shots. Outfit shots means that your legs, and preferably your legs AND feet, should also be included in the photo ;). So if you are submitting for Madam Malkins, please be aware of this :P.

  • Submissions can be sent to me (hilde dot heyvaert at gmail dot com) or Alex (apecci at live dot com)

If you have any questions, feel free to drop them in the comments down below!
Again, thank you SO MUCH, SERIOUSLY, to everyone who has submitting, and is submitting, you are all AWESOME!
