Fun with friends and Van Gogh

Expo Van Gogh

A few weeks ago (I know, I am forever chronically behind, but the expo is still on ‘till November 8th so this time it’s totally irrelevant!) I went to the Antwerp edition of Van Gogh, the Immersive Experience with Claire and Bert. Bert and I had previously seen the Brussels edition a few years ago, and we really didn’t mind seeing another edition as we really liked the first one. Claire had never seen the first one, but as Waagnatie isn’t far from her house, she was well please it was in Antwerp this time, and so we met up there and went to see art! Wearing facemasks, which was unpleasant.
I find them incredibly hard to breathe (I have actually had serious health issues from them several times, and I could delve into a whole rant about how badly BeGov sucks, but I’ll spare you all), but thankfully the venue was really well ventilated, which helped a lot. Still couldn’t stay as long as I wanted though :(

Anyway, here’s some pictures.
If you can, you should really book a ticket online and go see the expo for yourself, because it’s a lot of fun!

Loved this Japan inspired piece.

They had put little feet and a camera on the ground, to indicate the best spot for people to take photos of the art, which was a great addition!

They had given us a little pack of Crayola crayons in case if we wanted to colour colouring pages. Seeing I usually pack a tiny sketchbook, Claire and I went for it! Well, mostly Claire :)

I did take some of the colouring pages home, so I could practise impressionist painting, which I have zero experience with. The top two were already partially coloured in (they came printed like that) so that’s why there’s such a colour difference. I really had a good time painting these. Well mostly, for the most part I used watercolours and gansai, but I also used wax crayons (not just the Crayola ones), ecoline brush pens, Posca pens and my trusty white Derwent paint pen. Also: Derwent, why the bleepedy blazes did you stop making Aquatone watersolluble wax crayons?! One day I will run out, and it will be a sad day indeed…

And last but not least: mandatory outfit shot. Yes, it was a very windy day.

    1. Totally! Sadly, the Belgian one has been shut down because of the new lockdown. I hope it (and all the other museums and expos) can reopen again soon!
