Review – Too Faced, Melted Matte in Gingerbread Man

Too Faced, Melted Matte in Gingerbread Man

I was lucky enough to get my hands on this a few weeks before it landed on the French Sephora, because my best friend Charlotte got it for my birthday.
Now, Melted Matte is a pretty celebrated formula, but they generally don't come in special scents and flavours, even though some of the other Too Faced products do.
So, is this particular Christmas limited edition worth your cash?

Packaging overkill

The box of Too Faced goodies as it arrived, the deluxe Better than Sex mascara was a freebie. You can check a review of that here.

modest Melted Matte collection

I have been wearing this for over a month now, and I can happily say that this is probably the best in the Melted Matte series so far.
Admittedly, I have not tried any of their other special/limited edition Melted Matte lipsticks before, but I do own both Evil Twin (the very dark purple one) and Naughty by Nature (the brown one), so I have at least some idea of what they are usually like.

This swatch doesn't actually do the colour justice, I need better light to photograph in!

First the answer to everyone's question: YES, it DOES smell, and taste, like artisanal gingerbread!
I have heard several people on YouTube say it doesn't smell like gingerbread, but mine does.
I was very surprised that after wearing it for a couple of hours and I licked my lips, it STILL tasted like gingerbread, too.
So yes, it is quite delish! Don't go licking it off your lips though, eat some bakery/speciality store gingerbread instead!

Day 118/100 days of make-up in 2017

I absolutely love this colour, it is a stunning mix between terracotta orange, red and brown. I wouldn't say it's gingerbread coloured, but it's beautiful nonetheless.
I think it's the kind of shade that suits a wide variety of skin tones, so Too Faced definitely did good on that.

Whilst this is a matte liquid lipstick, it's not completely transfer proof.
It won't leave nearly as much transfer as a cream lipstick would, but there will be some. Meaning that you're best off removing this and reapplying after meals. After a couple of hours of talking and having regular drinks, same story. If you want something much more transfer proof, have a look at Sephora's Cream Lip Stain, which comes in 40 colours but none even remotely like this one.

I personally don't mind that it needs the occassional reapplication, because it comes off easily and it applies just as easily.
It has a really nice and easy to use applicator, and the lipstick goes on very evenly. It's very smooth and not patchy at all.

It's very comfortable to wear. I definitely don't notice any of the lip plumping properties they claim are in there, but it may just not work on me.
In any case, I really enjoy the formula of Gingerbread Man

The packaging is beautiful, Christmassy and adorable at the same time, but of course, we didn't expect anything less from Too Faced. The brand is pretty much undisputed when it comes to packaging.

In conclusion:
I absolutely love this.
So much in fact, that I'm seriously considering getting a spare, as this sadly is limited edition (why Too Faced, whyyyyyyyyy?!).
It's comfortable, it's a great formula, the colour is stunning, I am satisfied!
